Check Out This Fun Giveaway

If your like me you may not have known that March is National Crochet Month.  What does that mean to you??  For the whole month of March many of the crochet blogs have free patterns and or giveaways.  I have had the best time going from  blog to blog checking them out. If you don't know where to start you can check out Crochetville for a list of designers with a direct link to their blog.

So as I was stumbling around I came across this great blog Keepsakes by Melissa.  They are giving away a $250 gift card.  All you have to for your chance to win is leave Melissa a comment on her post and share about it on your blog or post it to your Facebook page or Twitter or email.  Then just tell Melissa how helped spread the word and you are entered to win.  Can you imagine what you can do with $250.  I can see alot of new yarn in my future!!  Yay

Hurry though the deadline to enter is  March 8th.

Nearing the Finish

As I told you a couple of weeks ago the finishing touches have taken me longer than I had ever thought they would to get my second Etsy shop up and running.  My new goal was to open on Sunday but I jumped the gun and actually opened with three items on Friday.  I don't know why I didn't do that a long time ago but I guess that's the old retailer in me. I felt that I should have all of my items because I might miss an opportunity to sell one of them.
I thought you might like to see a preview of a few of my items.  So here is the first item that I listed:

I loved this pattern with the ribbed brim in the back.  It just seems to add something extra.  I added ribbon in the front because I felt it looked a little plain.  It was designed by Alena Byers.  You can find the free pattern here on Raverly.  Alena also has an Etsy Shop with her patterns for sale but this is not one of them.
I hope you will take the time to check out my shop and let me know what you think.
~Have a great night and enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

Getting Ready For the Grand Opening for My Second Etsy Shop is Taking Longer then Planned

I have been working for over a month trying to get enough merchandise ready to open my second Etsy shop.  I have at least a dozen items crocheted.  It's the finish work that is taking the longest.  Making the flowers, all the buttons and  yarn tails that need to be tucked.  UGG.  Silly me,I thought I could whip it all out in one day.     Plus I still have pictures to take of everything. And then write all the descriptions for each item plus washing instructions.  This is when I wish I had an assistant.  Haha.
Part of my distraction is checking out the thousands of wonderful blogs in the blogging world.  If you look at my blog roll you'll see just a portion of the blogs that I have read in the last few days. If you have a chance check some of them out.  There is so much talent on each blog. And if you are looking for free patterns for either crochet or crafts each one of them either offers their own pattern or a link to someone else's blog that has their own free pattern.  Hence the reason I have gotten so distracted.  Once I start blog hopping I can't quit.  lol
And then somehow I stumbled upon this really great website that I am totally in love with. It is called kollabora.com.  The site has tutorials for those that are just starting out and you can even buy the supplies with out having to run all over town to buy the things you need.  There is even some free patterns on there.
You can follow and like posts just like Pinterest.  Here are a few cool  things that I found:

The cool thing is that is not just crochet.  There is jewelry making, sewing, knitting and many other things.
*Reader beware....its addictive!  lol...Until next time...

Hello, and welcome into my world

It has been about 10 months that I was told by my former employer that I no longer fit into the company model after 15 years of service.  I am certain that there are far more people then just me that are currently out of a job right now and probably with more years of service. But as you can imagine this was really a tough blow and one I didn't expect.  However, I have chosen not to let them rob me of any more of my life.  So I hope that this is the last time that I reference my past employer.

The cool ending to all this is that I have been able to return to my past loves in my life. You see I always have been a creative person.  There is nothing that I love more than to loose myself into learning something new.  Or in this case have the time to be able to spend on something that I completely enjoy. The problem becomes I have many things that I enjoy doing and to just settle on a few will be very hard for me.  So I hope to be able to blog here about everything but my main focus will be on Photography and Crocheting.

Currently you can view or purchase my photography at here or on Etsy at my shop   Please check them out and let me know what you think.  As with any forum online, I can really use the views and also could use some help with sharing.

After I opened my Etsy shop I really got excited about all the crocheting that is on Etsy.  So, together with my childhood bff I will be opening a second shop.  We have named it The 2 Hooker's Shop and we will be featuring crochet and other hand made merchandise.  I hope to have it opened within the next week or so.

Wish me luck~
